Monday Night Football for the Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers just knocked off two-time defending AFC champions, the Kansas City Chiefs with a 30-24 road win in Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, Sep 26.
For the first time since 2014, the Chargers’ are 1-0 in their division and won outright for the second time this year as the underdogs.

Justin Herbert: Chargers’ QB

Second-year phenom, Justin Herbert, who just out-dueled Patrick Mahomes, threw four touchdown passes in the win. Alohi Gilman, 24, intercepted Patrick Mahomes with 1:55 to play, while Herbert connected with Mike Williams on the go-ahead touchdown with 32 seconds remaining. Yes, Mahomes was intercepted twice for two of the Chargers’ four takeaways.

Herbert, Allen and Williams: the Bolts’ magic and mystery

Herbert, the 23-year-old quarterback, is easily one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL right now. Besides showing how well he’s managed pressure in different games, Herbert has thrown for 320 yards per game and accounted for five touchdowns in his two games against the Raiders.
Another Chargers’ player who is showing some real creativity and improvisational skills on the field is Keenan Allen. The 29-year-old is arguably the best route runner in football. Then there’s wide receiver Mike Williams, 27, who is blossoming by Herbert’s side having shown a dynamic touchdown duo.

The Chargers have a reason to feel confident going into their game vs the Raiders.

Monday Night Football for the Raiders

The Chargers do have an edge over the Raiders going into tonight’s game, especially after bolting out to their 14-0 lead over the Chiefs. However, with the Raiders’ first 3-0 start since 2002, the Chargers aim to deal the Raiders’ first loss of the 2021 NFL season

The Raiders are one of five unbeaten teams left after three weeks. They rallied for a 31-28 overtime win vs. the Dolphins despite digging themselves a 14-0 hole in the first quarter. This was certainly not the funnest quarter to watch for their fans. Despite facing Miami’s second-string QB and having a terrible start to the game, including an interception returned for a touchdown and a turnover on downs, they secured their second overtime game win of the season in Week 3.

Dereck Carr leading the NFL league in passing

The Raiders have Dereck Carr, and he's leading the NFL league in passing yards with 1,203. The 30-year-old quarterback is showing some potency with a passer rating of 101.4 which should get him to the 4,000-yard mark once again by the end of the season.

Carr was just named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month of September for leading his team to their first 3-0 since they went to the Superbowl in 2002.

Las Vegas might have the NFL's top-ranked offense at the moment, averaging 471 yards per game, but they cannot forget about the Chargers’ offensive line that’s pass protecting at an impressively high level.

What time is the NFL game tonight?

Date: Monday, Oct. 4
Time: 8:15 p.m. ET

Prediction: Chargers 31, Raiders 28

Both the Chargers and the Raiders have two high-profile QBs who will certainly put on a show on Monday Night Football. But while the Raiders’ offense is in the NFL's top-ranking now, the Chargers’ game against the Chiefs sparked something in them that has most NFL experts predicting a Chargers victory.

Even though the thought of the Raiders snapping into a four-game winning streak sounds celebratory, the Chargers are 3.5-point favorites against the Raiders on Monday Night Football.
