Carlos Vela set to return against the Seattle Sounders
The Mexican international has missed 11 consecutive games since suffering a hamstring injury, but he could see some minutes on Tuesday.
Los Angeles Football Club are making a late push to qualify for the playoffs and on Tuesday they will host the Seattle Sounders at the Banc of California stadium. LAFC’s head coach Bob Bradley said that Carlos Vela had a good practice session with the team on Monday and he could see some minutes against the top-seeded team in the Western Conference.
Injury update on Carlos Vela
“Carlos was in training today and he continues to make progress. I think there is a possibility he can be an option for some minutes against Seattle,” said Bob Bradley in Monday's press conference. “Carlos is not being considered as a starter. Even though he hasn’t played in a while and when he comes back we have to be smart with his minutes.”
Carlos Vela has missed 11 consecutive games with LAFC since injuring his hamstring on 22 August in the 2-1 defeat against Vancouver on week 16. The Mexican international has missed a total of 14 games this season due to that injury and he has scored five goals and given four assists. So he might help the team make a late push for the playoffs with three games left in the regular campaign.
“That left foot is still very special. So even when he hasn’t played in a while, Carlos has the ability to make a pass or a shot and win the game. Those are things we have seen a lot of and the fact that he's been able to do that in training it gives everyone the confidence that if we pick the right spot he can help us,” added Bradley.
