Chelsea are preparing a bid for USMNT star Sergiño Dest
The American has taken a more prominent role in his second season in Barcelona, but he could leave during the next transfer window according to reports in Spain.
Sergiño Dest was used in several positions during his time with FC Barcelona when Ronald Koeman was the manager. The Dutch was the one who brought the USMNT star in in 2020, but even though he is a usual starter the bosses are not quite sold on him being part of the future of the team.
Chelsea keen on signing Dest
According to reports in Spain, Chelsea is preparing a bid to sign the United States men’s national team player and Barcelona has put a €35 million price tag on Dest. But according to El Nacional via Barça Universal, the Premier League side will go as high as €25 million to bring him in during the winter transfer window.
The team from London have been looking for a wing-back since the summer and they tried to sign Achraf Hakimi, but he opted to go to PSG. So now they have set their sights on Dest, who has repeatedly said he wants to stay in Barcelona. During an interview with Soccer Bible the USMNT star talked about his arrival at Camp Nou last season.
“Going to Barcelona, the biggest club in the world and then playing with Messi as well. That is something that means a lot because of course, like any kid I dreamed of playing for Barcelona, but didn’t expect it to happen that fast. Maybe 26/27, OK, but 19,” said Dest during the interview.
