Cristiano Ronaldo match-worn United poppy shirt set to raise €40,000 for charity
The Portuguese striker's shirt is one of many poppy shirts being auctioned via Matchwornshirt.com with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.
During recent Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and the Women's Super League matches on the weekends starting 30 October 2021/5 November 2021, the majority of players and match officials took to the pitch with special special-edition shirts embroidered with a poppy.
These players' match-worn and signed shirts are currently being auctioned throughout November via Matchwornshirts.com with the funds raised going to The Royal British Legion, as the charity marks its centenary this year.
CR7: runaway leader
With just three days remaining for fans to bid on the shirts, Cristiano Ronaldo's match-worn shirt in United's 0-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur is proving to be the most popluar with the shirt currently holding a bid of 42,000 euro (from a Chinese bidder) for the item. The other CR7 shirt which the Portuguese sported in the Manchester derby a week later has seen bids topping 17,000 euro with the latest offer hailing from the USA.
Fans of all major English clubs still have time to bid for a shirt as worn by their heroes with the campaign having raised over 500,000 euro for the Royal British Legion charity.
