Three-weight world champ Gervonta “Tank” Davis will see action on Sunday against challenger Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz of Mexico for the WBA lightweight title, and this fight will further fatten the bank account of the defending champion.

Davis is one of the biggest stars in the lightweight division, bearing an impressive 25-0 record with 24 of those wins by knockout for a 96 knockout percentage.

Flying with Floyd

The Baltimore native started his professional boxing career in 2013, and a couple of years later he was taken under the wing of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, Jr., who is both his promoter and mentor.

With the help of the Mayweather Promotions, the 27-year-old has had good matchups at the right moments, ensuring that he would have hefty payouts. He has earned IBF and WBA titles since joining the company.

His connection with Mayweather has helped him both professionally and financially. In 2017, he started with a guaranteed payment $75,000 against Jose Pedraza in his first IBF super featherweight world title fight. This rose dramatically to $600,000 in the same year against Francisco Fonseca.

Growing fight purse

Davis was guaranteed $750,000 to fight Ricardo Nuñez, and $1 million each for the fights against Yuriorkis Gamboa, Leo Santa Cruz, and Mario Barrios, from whom he took the World Boxing Association super lightweight title.

Aside from guaranteed purses, Davis also makes money through PPV earnings, thus possibly more than doubling his income per match. The American has also had an endorsement deal with the sports brand Under Armour.

His latest guaranteed purse for the fight with Cruz is $1 million, with 60% of the income from PPV. Including bonuses, Davis will be able to receive more than $3.5 million for the lightweight showdown.

Luxe life

Davis’ net worth is currently estimated to be between $4-6 million. He owns several luxury cars, including a Rolls Royce, a Ferrari, and a Lamborghini, and posts photos of his vehicles on social media.

He also owns a mansion in Las Vegas and has a taste for expensive jewelry. "Tank" is often seen wearing diamond-studded necklaces, glasses, bracelets, rings, and other kinds of pricey accessories.

Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz takes place on Sunday night, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
