Newcastle interested in signing Atlético defender Trippier
The Premier League side are hoping to tempt the England international with an offer that would see him become the highest paid player in their squad.
Last summer, Manchester United tried to sign Kieran Trippier from Atlético Madrid for approximately €14 million, but the LaLiga champions refused to negotiate.
The England right-back is now attracting interest from Newcastle United. TalkSport report that Newcastle want to accelerate talks to sign Trippier. They know that the player intends to return to England and are ready to make a bid for him in January. The Premier League outfit are offering him a salary to make him the highest paid player in their squad with a salary of around €9 million per year.
Key part of Atlético team
Trippier returned to Diego Simeone's disposal for the Madrid derby last weekend. So far in 2021/22, he has played 15 games, 12 of them as a starter. He is an important player for Atlético and Diego Simeone, being a crucial part of their title-winning side last season. For Trippier, a return to Manchester is a hugely exciting proposal as he was born there. A deal to move to Old Trafford would depend on how new manager Ralf Rangnick wants to build his squad.
Newcastle are also interested in Dutch centre-back Sven Botman. The 21-year-old currently plies his trade in France with Lille and his contract runs until 2025.
