Gio Reyna to return for Dortmund after the international break
Marco Rose, manager of Borussia Dortmund, confirmed that the United States international could return after his lengthy injury next month.
Gio Reyna has not played since suffering a muscle injury with the United States men’s national team during the September international break. The midfielder has been sidelined since then and now he has returned to training, Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose said that Reyna could return next month.
“Gio Reyna is on a good path overall. Now we need to improve his performance parameters and get him match fit. We’re on a pretty good track, he’s training well. I hope that after the break after the Hoffenheim game he can finally become an option for us again.”
Reyna to miss the next games with the USMNT
The teenager returned to training in late November and it was expected that he would see some minutes in January. He has been slowly working on returning to full fitness, but he will miss Dortmund’s DFB-Pokal game against St. Pauli this week.
With the injury update that Marco Rose gave regarding Reyna, it is clear that he will miss the next international break with the national team. The United States will play World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador, Canada and Honduras later this month.
