LA Galaxy hoping to challenge for MLS Cup this year

The Los Angeles Galaxy have struggled to be a competitive team since they won the MLS Cup in 2014 with Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane as two of their most important players. They have not been able to build a competitive team since then and in the past five years they have only qualified for the playoffs once.

Araujo is aware of the pressure

The LA Galaxy had another disappointing season in 2021 after failing to qualify for the playoffs and they want to bounce back this campaign. Julian Araujo, the homegrown player for the Galaxy, said that the team will fight for the title during an interview with LA Soccer Hub.

“This year we have to make it to the playoffs. There are no excuses and we will fight for the title. The entire organization is conscious about what needs to happen this season and the fans expect a lot from us,” said the Mexican international.

We disappointed everyone last year, so we have to regain their confidence and leave everything on the field. This jersey has a lot of history and we have to live up to the expectations, so we will fight for the MLS Cup,” he added.

LA Galaxy announce the start of the preseason

This week the team with the most league titles (5) confirmed that they will host their preseason at the Coachella Valley between 10 and 19 February. The Galaxy will compete in a round-robin tournament with the LA Galaxy II, DC United, New York Red Bulls, LAFC and the Seattle Sounders.
