Mexico national soccer team has only won one of their last six games

The Mexico national team lacked creativity in the scoreless draw against Canada on Sunday on matchday 10 of the World Cup qualifiers in CONCACAF. With this result they remain in third place in the round-robin tournament and they have a crucial match on Wednesday against Panama in the last game of the international window.

Martino in the hot seat

The team managed by Gerardo Martino needs to win because they are at home and a defeat will make them drop to fourth place with 18 points. So it is vital for the Mexican national team to pick up all three points and for Martino to alleviate the pressure that is on him for the poor results in the last six games.

The results don’t favor Martino and there are rumors about a change of head coach if the team doesn’t improve in the final stretch of the qualifiers. Mexico has only won one of their last six matches, including back-to-back defeats against the USMNT and Canada in the last international window of 2021.

So on Wednesday there is no tomorrow for the Mexico national team and they need a convincing victory against Panama. A defeat or a draw could force the Mexican soccer federation to contemplate a change of managers with only three games remaining in the World Cup qualifiers in CONCACAF.

Roster update

On Monday it was confirmed that Hector Moreno and Luis 'Chaka' Rodríguez will step down from camp due to the yellow cards they saw on Sunday. The good news is that Raúl Jiménez will be availabe to play against Pamama after recovering from an injury that kept him out of the last two games.
