After Felix Torres’ late equaliser gave La Tri a 1-1 draw with Brazil on Thursday, third-placed Ecuador need just three points from their final three qualifying games to make it to their first World Cup since 2014.
Meanwhile, Peru won 1-0 in Barranquilla to move into the group’s fourth and final automatic qualification spot, boosting their prospects of reaching consecutive World Cup finals for the first time since 1982.
