The NBA’s All Star weekend competitions are heating up. Friday’s Celebrity All Star game saw Team Walton get the victory over Team Nique 65-51 and Walton’s Alex Toussaint took home the MVP.

In the Rising Stars competition, Detroit Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham scored 18 points and led Team Barry to victory on his way to collecting the MVP.

Saturday sees the Taco Bell® Skills Challenge take place under a new format for 2022. Under this new format, three teams will have a four round competition testing shooting, passing, and dribbling.

The three teams

Team Antetokounmpos

Giannis and his brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo, both of Milwaukee Bucks, will be joined by third brother Alex from the NBA G League’s Raptors 905.

Team Cavs

Home town advantage to Darius Garland, who will take to the court with Cleveland Cavaliers teammates Jarrett Allen and 2022 Rising Star Evan Mobley.

Team Rooks

Three Rising Stars selections in Scottie Barnes from the Toronto Raptors, Cade Cunningham from the Detroit Pistons and Josh Giddey from the Oklahoma City Thunder will compete as a team.

The new format

Through three rounds of competition teams will face a task that highlights a particular skill. In round one, each team will have 30 seconds to sink as many baskets as possible from different shooting positions. In round two, each team will have 30 seconds to complete passes to moving targets. And in round three, each team will participate in a timed relay around a set course.

The two teams with the most points will then advance to a fourth and final round, a competition to see who can make the fastest half-court shot.
