After a busy last couple weeks the NBA has a light night of action on Thursday with just two spotlighted games. Top teams in the both the Eastern and the Western Conference will battle as MVP candidates go toe-to-toe.

 Nets @ Sixers

In the early tip off we have the much anticipated matchup between the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers. This has already been quite a fierce rivalry for quite sometime, but the recent trade between the two teams has added a bit of gasoline to the fire.

Ben Simmons won’t be making his Nets debut in Philly after getting traded shortly before the  deadline, but he will be on the bench which will surely draw a reaction from the always boisterous Philly fans.

James Harden has been a revelation in his five games since moving to the City of Brotherly in the trade that involved Simmons. He is averaging 24.6 points and 12.4 assists since debuting in a Sixers jersey.

Joel Embiid will have a chance to strengthen his MVP resumé under the national spotlight. He Is averaging 29.7 ppg, 11.2 rpg and 4.3 assists a game an is one of the front runners to win the league’s Most Valuable Player award.

Tip off from the Wells Fargo Center is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.

Warriors @ Nuggets

The late tip will feature two MVP candidates on teams that are looking to climb the conference ladder in the West.

Golden State finally got the monkey off their backs after a five game losing streak with a much needed win over the Los Angeles Clippers from the Chase Center. The Warriors were able to topple the streaking Clippers without Steph Curry who was given the night off in preparations for tonight’s key matchup.

Jonathan Kuminga led Golden State with 21, 6 and 6 to hand the Warriors the 112-97 win.

Nikola Jokic continues to carry the Denver Nuggets who have been without their two biggest role players all season. Jokic is posting almost 26 points a night while 13.8 rebounds and 8 assists in his a campaign that may be even better than last year’s MVP season.

Tip off from San Francisco is set for 10 p.m. ET.
