Back in October 1990, one of the most iconic films in history was released—Pretty Woman. Even 35 years later, television channels continue to air it repeatedly.
Often described as a modern-day fairy tale, the film follows a wealthy businessman, played by Hollywood heartthrob Richard Gere, who hires the services of a female companion, portrayed by Julia Roberts. (Spoiler alert for those who have been living under a rock for the past few decades: he ends up falling in love with her.)
Before Pretty Woman, Gere had already established himself as one of the most desirable leading men in Hollywood, particularly after his unforgettable role in An Officer and a Gentleman, where he famously carried Debra Winger through a factory door.

His legions of fans have long dreamed of seeing him up close, and in Spain, that dream has become a reality—thanks to Alejandra María Silva García-Baquero, his third and current wife. She has not only won Gere’s heart but has also convinced him to move to Spain, specifically to La Moraleja in Alcobendas, Madrid.
Born on February 16, 1983, in A Coruña, Silva moved to Madrid with her parents as a child and later pursued studies in Advertising and Marketing. However, it was not in Spain but in Italy where she met the Hollywood star. Their paths crossed in 2015 while she was managing a luxury hotel in Positano, where Gere had gone on vacation after filing for divorce from Carey Lowell. At the time, Silva was also going through a divorce from Govind Friedland.
Sparks flew instantly, and despite the thousands of miles between them—he was based in New York while she lived in Madrid—their love proved unstoppable. Eventually, she relocated to the United States, and in May 2018, they tied the knot.

A year after their wedding at Gere’s ranch, the couple welcomed their first child together—Silva’s second, as she was already a mother to her son Albert from her previous relationship. Not long after, their second child arrived, completing their love story.
Reflecting on their relationship, Silva once shared with Hola: “I was feeling lost, without direction, and meeting him gave meaning to my life. It felt as though someone had reached out to guide me. Our karma was drawn together the moment we met. We have known each other for many lifetimes.”

For the past few months, the family has been happily settled in Madrid, where they are often spotted enjoying everyday activities, such as indulging in churros at the famous San Ginés café. To add to their joy in this new chapter, Gere has been honored with the 2025 International Goya Award.
