Elon Musk hawks his new Optimus robots in Saudi Arabia: “Who wouldn’t want to have their own C3-PO or R2-D2?
The CEO of Tesla has been trying to sell his humanoid robot in the Middle East.

Elon Musk, the unelected US Government menace stalking the corridors of the White House, chainsaw in hand, has followed Donald Trump to Saudi Arabia on a business mission.
Presumably having arrived hanging onto the gold rims of the Air Force 1 Boeing turbines, Musk has quickly set about waving his leaflets in the air across the Middle Eastern nation as he looks to make a quick buck on what he calls ‘a personal C-3PO’.
“I think everyone will want to have their own personal robot”, he said to the host at the Saudi-US Investment Forum, “you can think of it as though you had your own personal C-3PO or R2-D2. That would be pretty great”.

Maybe the robots will get more rights in the street than women and migrant workers: they’ll be able to drive, travel and work wherever and whenever they please, and letting their battery drain will be a lot easier than stoning them to death.
Still sound like a good idea, Elon? Selling off your robot to a country that amnesty international say “women continued to face discrimination in law and practice, including in matters of marriage, divorce, child custody and inheritance.”
A report identified “more than 20 principal areas of concern with regard to Saudi Arabia’s implementation of its obligations... regarding the targeting of women human rights defenders, use of the death penalty, lack of protection for women migrant domestic workers, the persistence of a de facto male guardianship system and other issues related to safeguarding women’s rights in Saudi Arabia."
I’ll stick with my robot vacuum cleaner. But thanks, Elon. Also, how long before somebody marries one?
