According to initial reports, some users are completely unable to log into their accounts, while those who have managed to do so have been greeted by an alarming message indicating that their money “might not be temporarily available,” and their account balance showing as $0.

How many customers affected by Bank of America outage?

As of 3:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 1st, over 17,000 incidents had been reported on Down Detector, a platform that tracks service outages and website disruptions. Clearly this is just a fraction of those affected.

The problem appears to be nationwide, affecting users in major cities like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Seattle. The situation has sparked growing concern among customers who rely on the mobile app to manage their finances. Actual numbers on everyone who has been impacted are unknown, with the bank, as yet, not revealing much, likely as investigations are ongoing.

Why can't I access my Bank of America account?

Despite the large number of complaints that have surfaced in the past few hours, Bank of America has yet to issue an official statement regarding the situation. However, many users who have contacted customer service have shared on social media that they were informed it is a technical issue.

The bank is reportedly aware of the problem and is working to resolve it as quickly as possible. Customers are advised to remain patient as the situation unfolds, though the lack of access to funds is understandably causing widespread concern.
