Youtuber Dr Mike will fight Chris Avila, MMA fighter: Date and time of the event
On the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva fight in Phoenix, Arizona, YouTuber Dr. Mike is going to face off against UFC star Chris Avila.
Jake Paul will face Anderson Silva on October 29th, however, the card prior to the main event will have an unexpected fight between a UFC fighter and a youtuber, as was announced this week .
Chris Ávila, a veteran UFC and Bellator fighter, will face Russian youtuber Doctor Mike in a fight that will be scheduled for four rounds and at 185 pounds, according to ESPN in a report on Tuesday.
Who is Doctor Mike?
Doctor Mike, whose real name is Mikhail Varshavski, is a well-known social media influencer with over 23 million followers across all platforms and over 10 million YouTube subscribers.
Varshavski competed in an amateur boxing match in May, winning in a unanimous decision over YouTube personality Ian “iDubbbz” Washburn. That event raised $1.3 million for charity, with Varshavski donating all of the money from his fight purse to help Ukraine. For the Avila fight, Varshavski will donate his winnings to the Boys & Girls Club, according to officials.
“As a practicing physician, I’ve taken an oath to ‘do no harm,’ but when those ‘exam’ gloves come off and the boxing gloves slide on: all bets are off,” Varshavski said. through a statement. “With one win under my belt, I’m hungry to add more. And this pro-fight with Chris Avila could be just what the doctor ordered.”
Avila has a 1-1 record as a professional boxer and is an eight-year veteran of mixed martial arts, a longtime member of Nate Diaz’s Northern California team. Most recently, Avila defeated Paul’s training partner, Anthony Taylor, in a boxing match last December via a majority decision.
