Donald Trump to visit iconic sports stadium to commemorate 24th anniversary of 9/11
The former president will honor the victims at the Pentagon in the morning and later appear for the evening matchup.

One of the most significant dates for all Americans is September 11, the day in 2001 when the country endured a series of terrorist attacks that turned New York City into the epicenter of tragedy. Two planes struck the iconic Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, leading to their collapse.
This Thursday will mark 24 years since that historic day in New York, a date still charged with deep emotion. In Major League Baseball, the New York Yankees will face the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium in the third game of their series. On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Donald Trump will attend the game to commemorate the 24th anniversary of 9/11.
In a statement posted on social media, the Yankees announced: “The New York Yankees and the White House announced today that President Donald J. Trump is scheduled to attend the Tigers-Yankees game on Thursday, September 11 at Yankee Stadium. Pre-game ceremonies will honor the victims and heroes of September 11 […] Attendees with tickets are strongly encouraged to arrive as early as possible and allow extra time for entry due to heightened security measures at all gates and entrances to Yankee Stadium.”
Karoline Leavitt, the president’s aide and White House press secretary, also said on Tuesday: “President Trump will commemorate the 24th anniversary of September 11 on Thursday with a visit to the Pentagon Memorial in the morning, followed by an appearance at the Yankees game at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night.”
Yankee Stadium remembers Charlie Kirk
On Wednesday night, ahead of Trump’s visit to mark the anniversary of 9/11, Yankee Stadium paid tribute to Charlie Kirk, who was killed that day after being shot at the University of Utah.
Before tonight's game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk.

Kirk, founder of the nonprofit Turning Point USA, had become an activist and ally of the president. It was striking that the Yankees’ home ballpark honored his memory – particularly with Trump set to appear there the following evening.
