Pope Leo XIV sends an emotional message to the Chicago White Sox
Pope Leo XIV delivered a moving message to all the spectators present at Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox.

Pope Leo XIV, who was born in Chicago in 1955, delivered an emotional message via video to all the spectators present at Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB).
“It is a pleasure for me to greet all of you gathered for this great celebration as a community of faith in the Archdiocese of Chicago. A special greeting to Cardinal Cupich, the auxiliary bishops, and all my friends gathered today for this feast of the Most Holy Trinity.”
The White Sox have officially been blessed by the pope.

The highest figure in the Catholic Church is a White Sox fan and even attended the 2005 World Series.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to invite each one of you to look into your hearts,” Leo said. “God is present — and in many ways. He’s calling you to look into your heart, to discover how important it is for each one of us to pay attention to God in our hearts, to that longing for love we may feel.”
Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago celebrated Mass, and Chicago Bulls announcer Chuck Swirsky served as the master of ceremonies. Attendees included nuns and other members of the Catholic Church.

‘We discover that light is growing brighter and brighter’
Fans were also part of the religious celebration, some of them wearing White Sox jerseys with “Da Pope” on the back, which were sold after the election on May 8.
Leo XIV is the first American Pope, and his message was directed especially at the young people of the country:
“That restlessness you feel in your hearts—we shouldn’t look for ways to put out the fire or numb ourselves to the difficulties we feel. We should get in touch with our hearts and realize that God can work through it. That light on the horizon is not easy to see, and yet, as we come together, we discover that light is growing brighter and brighter.”
Pope Leo XIV, in a message to US Catholics gathered in his hometown of Chicago, warned against “egotistical attitudes” & called on Catholics to be beacons of community.

He was recently seen wearing a Chicago baseball cap, which has White Sox fans excited: they consider it a blessing that the Pope is a fan of their team.
