However, in the National League, the final two playoff spots are still up for grabs, with three teams battling for them: the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

The final stretch promises to be intense as these teams fight for their chance to secure a postseason berth.

The Mets and Braves will face off in a crucial doubleheader on Monday evening at Truist Park, with their postseason fates in their hands. Here’s how the scenarios break down:

If the Mets and Braves each win one game:

  • Both the Mets and Braves will advance to the playoffs, and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be eliminated.
  • The Braves would secure the 5th seed and face the San Diego Padres.
  • The Mets would lock in the 6th seed and play the Milwaukee Brewers.

If the Braves win both games:

  • The Braves and Diamondbacks will advance to the playoffs
  • The Braves will be the 5th seed and play the Padres
  • The Diamondbacks will be the 6th seed and face the Brewers
  • The Mets will be eliminated

If the Mets win both games:

  • The Mets and Diamondbacks will advance to the playoffs
  • The Mets will be the 5th seed and face the Padres
  • The Diamondbacks will be the 6th seed and play the Brewers
  • The Braves will be eliminated

For the Mets, a split in the doubleheader guarantees a playoff berth as the 6th seed, while sweeping both games would elevate them to the 5th seed and eliminate the Braves. If they lose both, their playoff hopes will be over.

Rules
