The game was confirmation that Los Angeles Lakers are serious contenders this season, with new boy Luka Doncic shining alongside LeBron James. A 113-109 win over the New York Knicks – in front of a celebrity-filled crowd – gave the Lakers their eighth straight victory, albeit needing to secure it in OT.

A side story, however, came during one of the breaks, and cameras weren’t slow to grab a few seconds between LA’s King and ESPN’s Stephen A Smith, where the veteran player gave the commentator a piece of his mind.

From what we could make out he said something along the lines of:

“I tell you one time, bro. Keep my son out of this shit, bro,” referencing some words Smith has put forward about Bronny.

Given that the clip went viral, there was no doubt that there would be some fallout, and Smith was first to speak on the matter. As part of that, he said that the man who confronted him on the court was not a basketball player, but a father.
