Update:

The build-up to Wednesday’s showdown between Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat just got a lot more dramatic. Among the 13 (thirteen) players named on the latest injury report were two names that have sparked plenty of fan excitement: rookie forward Cooper Flagg and guard Tyler Herro.

Flagg was listed with a right-thumb splint, though it should be noted he has not missed any games due to that and is down as ‘available’ for the upcoming game against the Heat. His only absence this season came previously owing to an illness.

The latest update, however, had many fans holding their breath, especially considering how much impact the number-one pick has had since entering the league.

As for Herro, this marks one of the first public health updates since his recovery from left ankle surgery. He had just returned to action and looked as dangerous as ever, racking up nearly 25 points per game and shooting over 50 per cent from deep since stepping back on court.

For Dallas, though, the wider injury list remains worrisome. While fellow star Anthony Davis avoided the report yet several rotation players remain questionable, including P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford, both listed with ankle trouble, while Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum remain out.

For Flagg, momentum is high, with Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić quick to praise the youngster. According to the Slovenian, Flagg is “a good player,” and “obviously, there’s a lot of pressure that comes with the first pick, so he has a lot on his shoulder, but I think he will become a great player.

Cooper Flagg is putting up impressive numbers in his rookie NBA season. He is averaging about 17.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. His shooting efficiency has also been solid, with around 46.6% field-goal percentage.
