LeBron still the king as LaMelo Ball loses out
All eyes in the basketball world will be glued to the Chase Center in San Francisco next month as the NBA hosts the 74th All Star game.

The 2025 NBA All-Star Game will be held for the 74th time in the San Francisco Bay Area, at the luxurious Chase Center. The downtown venue is the new home of the Golden State Warriors who relocated from their previous 2019 arena in Oakland. The 2025 All Star will be the first in the region for a quarter of a century with the last big NBA big midseason bash last held in the Bay Area in 2000 at the Oakland Arena.
With just over two weeks remaining until the event, we now know the names of the starters in both Eastern Conference and Western Conference teams.
Eastern Conference
Jalen Brunson (point guard, New York Knicks), Donovan Mitchell (shooting guard, Cleveland Cavaliers), Jayson Tatum (forward, Boston Celtics), Giannis Antetokounmpo (power forward, Milwaukee Bucks), Karl-Anthony Towns (center, New York Knicks).
Western Conference
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (guard, Oklahoma City Thunder), Stephen Curry (guard, Golden State Warriors), LeBron James (forward, Los Angeles Lakers), Kevin Durant (power forward, Phoenix Suns), Nikola Jokic (center, Denver Nuggets)
The selected players (as has been the case since 2017), come from a combination of popular vote (which provides 50%) with the remaining selections coming from other active NBA stars (25%) and and specialized basketball press (25%).
LeBron hits 21
LeBron James (now 40 years old) is back as a starter and the Lakers is set to play his 21st All Star (beating the previous record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s on 19), so now he is the first and only one with 21.

Luka Doncic, who has been to the last five All-Star Games, starting four (all but 2022), will be sidelined this time with a muscular issue still troubling the Slovenian who has not played for the Mavs since Christmas Day.
LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, Damian Lillard and Victor Wembanyama all miss out.
