NBA games stopped once the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics 4-2 in the finals last month, but that does not mean NBA players are finished working, or playing. FIBA 2023 World Cup Qualifiers are here, and they bring us a lot of clashes between past, present and future NBA stars like Doncic, Bogdanovic and Shai fighting for the chance to represent their country next year.

There are two main FIBA events happening at the moment, with the Americas regional games happening until July 4th and the European ones going on until the 7th.

Doncic headlines NBA stars in FIBA Qualifiers

Luka Doncic is the main attraction for NBA fans hungry for more spectacular plays, as the 23-year old Wunderkind who reached the Western Finals for the first time in his career this season decided to come back to Europe and play for his home country. He’s been giving fans all they wanted so far, with dazzling plays on the court and amusing moments off of it, while leading Slovenia to a tremendous 97-69 win against Bogdanovic and Zubac’s Croatia. Even as the Mavs lost free agent Jalen Brunson to the Knicks this week, Doncic will just continue getting into shape for next season as he plays alongside possible future teammate Goran Dragic against Sweden this Sunday.

Europe’s clashes also gave us current free agent Dennis Schroeder scoring 14 points to help Raptors’ Isaac Bonga’s 21 points and 8 rebounds in Germany’s win against Estonia. Lauri Markkanen too had a great game recording a 22-point, 12-rebound double double to lead Finland past Sweden on Friday, while Theo Maledon scored 29 points in an ey-catching game which he has not been able to replicate with the OKC Thunder.

American region sees NBA players Campazzo and Shai shine

Back in America we’ve got recently waived Argentinian guard Facundo Campazzo wreaking havoc in a comeback win against Venezuela, going for 29 points and some of his trademarked pizzazz play just as he tries to keep his NBA career alive. Team Canada, who sports the most NBA players in the FIBA qualifiers, notched a 95-75 win against Dominican Republic thanks to the efforts of young star Shai Gilgeous Alexander and his 32 points and five three pointers.

FIBA World Cup Qualifiers action continues as Doncic plays against Sweden and we have games like USA v Cuba and Buddy Hield’s Bahamas v Dominican Republic.
