Who does Team USA play next? FIBA 2023 semifinal match-ups

Update:
Steve Kerr’s men are only two steps away from glory after an impressive performance in the quarterfinals.

The 2023 FIBA World Cup is entering its final stages, with some of the big favorites still competing for a place in the tournament final.

Team USA is one of them, as they earned a ticket to the semifinals after comfortably defeating Italy last time out.

The Americans, who had a tough second group round against Montenegro and Lithuania, showed their best version against Gli Azzurri, coming out on top 100-63.

Steve Kerr’s men were very dominant at the start of the event, dismantling New Zealand, Greece, and Jordan. However, things played out differently in the second round, when the USA played a two-game group stage.

They had to dig deep to defeat Montenegro and suffered their only defeat in the tournament to Lithuania.

Team USA’s next game in the FIBA World Cup

The USA will have the chance to become the most successful national team in the history of the competition. If they end up winning it, they will overtake former Yugoslavia as the team with the most titles with six.

The Americans will return to action at 8:40 a.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 8. against Germany, the standout team in the tournament, who defeated Latvia in a very close match.

In case of a victory against the Europeans, Kerr’s players will advance to the final, which will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Serbia will also play in the semifinals after defeating Lithuania (68-87) in a game that, on paper, was expected to be a lot closer. Canada will play against Svetislav Pesic’s side after defeating Luka Doncic’s Slovenia.
