Update:

NBA All-Star Weekend is about much more than just the All-Star Game itself, with three days of basketball fun and games for fans to get stuck into. That ranges from the Celebrity All-Star Game, to the Rising Stars Challenge, to the 3-Point and Slam Dunk Contests.

Who is taking part in the 2025 Slam Dunk Contest?

The last of those events takes place on Saturday (February 15) and one man will be hoping to go one better than the Kansas City Chiefs by clinching a three-peat (would it be controversial to say it would be slightly less prestigious than the Super Bowl?).

The Orlando Magic’s Mac McClung, the Slam Dunk champion in 2023 and 2024, is the man in question, although he should face some stiff competition to defend his title. That will come in the shape of Matas Buzelis of the Chicago Bulls, the San Antonio Spurs’ Stephon Castle and Andre Jackson Jr. of the Milwaukee Bucks, all first-time participants.

Who decides the 2025 Slam Dunk Contest winner?

The winner will be crowned by a combination of four judges, and NBA ID members. Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady, former Dunk Contest participant Baron Davis and two-time Dunk Contest champion Jason Richardson (2002, ’03) will act as judges, while NBA ID members can submit real-time votes via the NBA App.

However, Jesser could ultimately end up having an important role to play. The basketball content creator will announce the average scores awarded by NBA ID members, and will also provide a tie-breaking pick on behalf of the NBA ID community if needed.

Who is Jesser?

The 25-year-old, who played in last year’s Celebrity All-Star Game, is one of the biggest basketball content creators on YouTube. His channel, to which he has posted more than 1,400 video, has over 24.9 million subscribers.

A number of high-profile players have appeared on his channel, such LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Chet Holmgren and Dwight Howard, while his most popular videos include going to five NBA games in 50 hours, trying out for an NBA team and numerous on-court challenges. All in all, there’s a little bit of everything.

And it’s not all basketball. His videos of staying overnight in “the world’s largest inflatable” and “the world’s largest trampoline park” have been viewed more than 22 million times. Yes, really.

If you’re a subscriber, expect more content related to this year’s Slam Dunk Contest, maybe even involving the winner himself. McClung is the man to beat.
