Update:

Bill Belichick is one of the most accomplished NFL head coaches in the history of the league. In 24 seasons as the New England Patriots’ coach, he led them to six Super Bowl championships (2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, and 2019), the most of any head coach.

But in 2023, the Patriots and Belichick parted ways, with the team saying it was a “mutual” decision, while Patriots owner Robert Kraft said it was “best we each move on”. There was drama after that, however, when a report emerged that Kraft had warned the Atlanta Falcons not to trust Belichick. Belichick ended up spending the 2024 season away from coaching.

Belichick: snubs Kraft in new book

Now, Belichick is getting ready to embark on a new head coaching journey as he’ll be in charge of the North Carolina Tar Heels this college football season. Ahead of the season, Belichick will release his book, titled “The Art of Winning: Lessons From My Life in Football” which will detail his experience as one of the most successful head coaches in the NFL.

Interestingly, in the book, Belichick doesn’t mention owner Robert Kraft even once - not even in the acknowledgements. That’s despite having worked for him for 24 years. To promote the book, Belichick was interviewed by Tony Dokoupil and when he asked about leaving Kraft out of the book, things got awkward.

Belichick first explained that the book is about his own personal experiences, so there was no need to mention Kraft. But when he Dokoupil brought up the fact that Kraft wasn’t even in the acknowledgements, Belichick sat silent for a while before finally saying, “Correct”.

Dokoupil also mentioned that Kraft called their split a firing, but Belichick doubled down, insisting that he and the Patriots parted ways mutually.
