Update:

Former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl XLIV champion with the New Orleans Saints Chase Daniel has made his stance clear on who he thinks is the best quarterback in the league. During an episode of “The Facility”, Daniel defended Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, calling him the best despite a career-low season in 2024.

Chase Daniel defends Patrick Mahomes as best QB in the league

Patrick Mahomes is heading into his eighth season as a starter for the Chiefs in 2025. He and Kansas City are coming back from a tough Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, failing to reach the coveted three-peat.

As for Mahomes, he posted some of his worst numbers in 2024 with career lows in passing touchdowns (26) and yards (3,928). Despite that, as Daniel pointed out, he was able to lead the Chiefs to another Super Bowl appearance - Mahomes’ fifth in the last six years.

Due to his stats, however, Mahomes has dropped out of the predictions for MVP in the 2025 season. Still, Daniel came to his defense, touting him as still the best quarterback in the league no matter what the stats say.

“It’s Mahomes - he’s a whole tier to himself,” Daniel said. “Can you believe he’s almost been in the league a decade? It doesn’t feel that way because of the consistency in which he’s played. He’s been to five of the last six Super Bowls, he’s won three Super Bowls, he’s been to seven straight AFC championship games. Forget about the stats.

Daniel argues Mahomes’ ability to evolve - adjusting to fewer deep threats and relying more on efficiency - cements his greatness. He stressed that Mahomes’ leadership and adaptability, especially without key stars like Tyreek Hill, make him unmatched.

“Don’t talk to me about somebody being better than Patrick Mahomes until someone is able to knock him off the mountain,” said Daniel. “Which I don’t see happening.”
