Cowboys vs 49ers NFL Divisional Round: odds and predictions: Who is the favorite?
The Dallas Cowboys head to California to face the San Francisco 49ers in a contest for a shot at the NFC Championship game. Who is favored to win?
The Dallas Cowboys are traveling to Santa Clara, California on Sunday to face the San Francisco 49ers in a divisional round playoff matchup.
The last time they came up against each other was also in a postseason game, when the 49ers defeated the Cowboys 23-17 during last year’s Wild Card Weekend.
The 49ers came into the game as underdogs then, but this is not the case for Sunday’s contest. As the NFC’s number two seed, they are slight favorites to prevail over number five seed Dallas.
San Francisco scores
San Francisco’s offense has become a force to reckon with, with rookie quarterback Brock Purdy and star running back Christian McCaffrey taking the lead. Purdy, the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has proven that he is far from being Mr. Irrelevant, as he has notched a 6-0 record since taking over as starting QB. Since taking the place of Jimmy Garoppolo, the team has logged an average of 34.8 points per game, the highest in the league.
Top-caliber Dallas offense
The Cowboys’ offense is nothing to sneeze at either. Dak Prescott has also carried the team to lead the league in points per game since the time he returned to play after suffering a finger injury.
Sunday’s match could turn out to be an offensive shootout, although Dallas might find it daunting to deal with the durable defense of the 49ers, who rank second in total defense in the NFL.
