Is Deion Sanders trying to market his sons Shedeur & Shilo to the Atlanta Falcons?
Coach Prime appears to be using his obvious influence in Atlanta to try to fast-track the career path of his two sons. Is it a cheeky joke or will it actually work?
Some may call it nepotism, while others may say it’s just for laughs. No matter how you cut it, were the Falcons to actually take the Hall of Fame cornerback seriously, it would be a different story altogether. The interesting thing is, the team might just have a need.
Deion Sanders markets his sons to the Atlanta Falcons
When it comes to Deion Sanders and Atlanta, one could argue that he’s truly a son of the soil. During the 90s it was Sanders who electrified the city as he played for both the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves. Indeed, he earned First Team All-Pro honors for the former in 1993 en route to establishing himself as one of the city’s most recognizable faces. With all that in mind, it probably won’t surprise you that he recently promoted the idea of his two sons - Shedeur and Shilo - playing for the Falcons. Speaking in a video that appeared online and has since gone viral, Sanders can be seen telling a Falcons scout to draft his boys. “We ain’t coming back unless we bringing the Sanders boys to the A, both of them.”
Do the Atlanta Falcons need Deion Sanders’ sons?
The scout that can be seen in the video alongside Sanders is Rich Sanders - no relation - and while it’s not clear that any deal is imminent, it’s worth noting that the team may in fact have some holes to fill. For starters, there is the situation at quarterback which Shedeur plays. At the moment, Falcons starter Desmond Ridder has completed 65.4% of his passes for 1,073 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions (85.8 rating) in five starts. In total, the Falcons are 5-4 in games Ridder has started in his career, however, it should be said that those games have seen the team rely heavily on its running game, and an impressive run-blocking offensive line.
Then, there is Shilo who has been sensational this season as a safety and is a graduate student with another year of eligibility. On that note, it should be said that Shedeur is a junior and eligible for the NFL Draft after this season. Of course, it remains to be seen whether Sanders keeps both his boys at Colorado after this year, but by the sounds of things, it could just be that they are soon on their way to ATL.
