Jared Goff injury update: Detroit Lions quarterback leaves the field
The Lions fell to a first half deficit against the Washington Commanders and their MVP-contender QB suffered a brutal hit.

Fans of the Detroit Lions have been handed a major injury scare in the Divisional round game against the Washington Commanders as quarterback Jared Goff was forced from the field with injury.
Goff suffered a big hit from Frank Luvu after throwing an interception midway through the second quarter. The referees could have called a foul on the play for a helmet to helmet tackle. Instead, they opted to allow the Commanders to play on and score a dramatic pick-six touchdown.
Goff was quickly taken to the locker room to be assessed after the hit. He soon returned to the sidelines but back-up Teddy Bridgewater was in at QB to lead the Lions to an important TD.
With the scores are 31-21 late in the second quarter Goff was able to return to the field and he led Detroit on the final drive before halftime.
Bridgewater’s involvement for the Lions is an incredible story. He retired from the NFL in 2023 and became head coach at Miami Northwestern, his former high school. He led the team to state championship but announced in December 2024 that he wanted to resume his playing career and was re-signed by the Lions.
