The most influential figure in the NFC North over the past decade has shifted his talents to the East, landing with the New York Jets. Aaron Rodgers is no longer part of the Green Bay Packers, which opens up possibilities for all four teams competing in the division.

Since 2011, the Packers consistently secured the NFC North title, and in most seasons, they were the favorites, all mainly thanks to Rodgers. However, the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player is now just a memory, and this creates opportunities for all contenders.

In less than one week, the 2023 season will kick off, making it the perfect time to take a closer look at one of the divisions with the most uncertainties.

Detroit Lions: a new king of the northern jungle

As unbelievable as it may seem, the Detroit Lions, a team that historically struggles, have emerged as the tip for the NFC North. Their impressive record of 8-2 in the latter half of the season serves as a solid foundation for these expectations. Detroit hasn’t claimed a divisional championship since 1993 when they competed in the old NFC Central.

Leaving behind the NFL’s old testament, the Lions now boast one of the league’s finest defensive units. And while Jared Goff may not be a generational quarterback, he has elevated his performance.

They signed former Bears running back David Montgomery to replace Jamaal Williams and added running back Jahmyr Gibbs and tight end Sam LaPorta in the Draft. We can’t wait to see how they get going.

A new Love affair in Green Bay post Rodgers

While Aaron Rodgers may no longer be in Green Bay, the Packers are excited about Jordan Love stepping into the quarterback role. After three years of learning from Rodgers, Love is emerging to showcase his skills, including plenty of mobility and a solidly strong arm.

However, Love faces challenges as he lacks a top-tier receiving corps, and his offensive line is unstable. Head coach Matt LaFleur will face a test in his first year without Rodgers. It’s hard not to keep talking about Rodgers when he’s no longer there, but his legacy in Green Bay is indelible.

Cousins beyond Netflix in Minnesota

The Netflix series “Quarterback,” produced by Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, provides insight into the personal life of Kirk Cousins, the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. Cousins has won hearts with his simple lifestyle, but he’ll need more than that to claim the NFC North.

He has a receiving tandem led by Justin Jefferson and rookie Jordan Jefferson. Without Dalvin Cook, the Vikings lose a significant weapon, and their roster isn’t well-rounded, so it’s not predicted to be a great year in Minnesota.

Bears need quick Fields growth

Entering his third year in the National Football League, the Bears are hopeful that Fields will make a quality leap similar to what Jalen Hurts did last season with the Philadelphia Eagles. His accuracy has improved, and his speed on the field remains impressive.

Lots to play for in the NFC North, and just a few more days till we see the teams in competitive action.
