Patrick Mahomes 1-4 Josh Allen…but clutch stat shows why Chiefs QB is the Super Bowl king
Mahomes and Allen have faced each other on eight occasions, with very different outcomes in the regular season and playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday (January 26), with all eyes, as ever, on star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
Since the pair first met as starters for their respective teams in the 2020 season, they have faced each other on eight occasions, with each player coming out on the winning team four times.
However, the difference between their records in regular season games and the postseason is startling.

Mahomes vs Allen: astonishing regular season and playoff records
Five of those previous eight matchups have come during the regular season and they make for incredibly happy reading for Allen and the Bills.
Regular season: Patrick Mahomes 1-4 Josh Allen
Buffalo defeated the Chiefs 30-21 at Highmark Stadium during the recently completed regular season, the fourth year in succession they have beaten the serial Super Bowl winners. A feat made all the more impressive by the fact that have won on each of their last three visits to Arrowhead Stadium (2021, 2022 and 2023).
In fact, Mahomes hasn’t beaten Allen in the regular season since 2020, the first time they went head to head.
Postseason: Patrick Mahomes 3-0 Josh Allen
However, and it’s a big ‘however,’ the Chiefs quarterback has emphatically had his Bills counterpart’s number in the postseason, which has helped him cement his reputation as one of the NFL’s most clutch performers in history.
Kansas City have faced beaten Buffalo in the playoffs in three of the four previous seasons, extending the Bills’ long, long wait for an AFC Championship (1993) and a Super Bowl, which they’ve never won.
Mahomes has stepped up to the plate when it has mattered most, inspiring victories in the 2020 AFC Championship Game, and the Divisional Round in 2021 and 2023.
No QB has EVER beaten another QB 4 straight times in the playoffs. Will Patrick Mahomes be able to do it? pic.twitter.com/Mv5ag7fQGX

Chiefs beat Bills in Super Bowl LXIII run
Last year was the only time the Chiefs have defeated the Bills in the playoffs on the way to winning the Super Bowl, which Mahomes has done three times to Allen’s none.
Many feel that record suggests history is about to repeat itself. Allen and the Bills have to believe records are there to be broken.
