The San Francisco 49ers have been dominant in the first quarter and a half of Super Bowl LVIII on the back of their outstanding defense. Now that impenetrable wall has been dealt a severe blow as linebacker Dre Greenlaw exits the game with what is being called a lower leg injury.

It happened as the Niners defense was preparing to take the field and video shows Greenlaw’s leg buckle under him. The fear is that it could be either an ACL or ligament issue, but it would appear that he is definitely out for the rest of the game.

If it does turn out to be an ACL tear, he will be out until at least mid season next year. Complicating matters is the fact that 2024 is a contract year for Greenlaw, who is in his fourth season after being drafted in the 2019 Draft out of Arkansas.
