Eagles superstar Saquon Barkley has revealed which team he was cheering for during the 2023 Super Bowl, when the Kansas City Chiefs beat Philadelphia Eagles in a tight game that ended 32-35 at State Farm Stadium.

When asked who he was supporting, Barkley made it clear that he was not rooting for the Eagles. During that season the running back was plying his trade at the New York Giants, who had lost to the Eagles three times, including in the divisional round of the playoffs.

‘There was no part of me that wanted the Eagles to win’

Of course I was rooting against them,” Barkley openly admitted. “They had knocked us out of the playoffs. There was no part of me that wanted the Eagles to win, but it’s funny to look back on it now… being here with a lot of those guys that were part of that team.

Barkley this season will be hoping to put his current form into practice and get the Eagles over the line. A simply astonishing season has been had by the running back, who has put out numbers that put him firmly in contention for both NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards.

At the time of writing, Barkley has rushed for an Eagles franchise record and NFL-high 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in the regular season.

He has also racked up a whopping 442 yards and five rushing touchdowns in the playoff, which both qualify as postseason high. On top of that, Barkey has made seven 60-plus yard touchdowns this year - the most in NFL history.

Super Bowl 59 will fall on his 28th birthday, which will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 6:30 PM ET at the legendary Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in what will be a repeat of the 2023 final.
