The architect of the Eagles’ first Super Bowl returns home: Joe Douglas signs with the team
Reports say that the Eagles are set to hire former Jets G.M. Joe Douglas.

Local reports say that former New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas is set to make a return to the Eagles in a senior scouting role.
Douglas was previously a part of the Eagles between 2016 and 2019, when he led the scouting department as vice president of player personnel.
During this time, the Eagles won Super Bowl LII and Douglas was a key part of selecting the team’s 2018 draft class that ended up becoming foundational for the franchise’s recent run of success.

After that, he departed for the Jets’ top spot following the 2019 NFL draft. However, his success dried up and Douglas’ team never managed a winning record (32-68) and never finished better than third place in the AFC East. Close to the final year of his deal, Douglas was fired last November by owner Woody Johnson.
Despite the poor record, Douglas’ eye was as sharp as ever and he was, so says AtZ Sports’ Mike Antoniou, “the architect behind the 2022 draft class”, signing Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Jermaine Johnson and Breece Hall with top-34 picks.
It’s clear, looking at things from a player import perspective, why the Eagles have taken the leap and moved to bring Douglas into their flock.
In this period of reshuffling for the Eagles, they have said goodbye to a number of top names away behind the scenes: a number of senior scouts have left including senior director of college scouting Anthony Patch and senior director of scouting Brandon Hunt. National scout Jordon Dizon has also departed and he will take up a senior role with the Broncos.
