Tom Brady dismisses former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms’ statement that he could retire in the middle of the NFL season

Former Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms said Tom Brady could make the decision to retire midway through the season, but Brady says this won’t happen.

Because of what Tom Brady is going through on the field and off it, the quarterback could decide to retire in the middle of the regular season of the NFL: at least that’s what former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms believes.

The problems that jeopardize Brady’s marriage to his wife Gisele Bündchen- who currently lives away from the seven-time Super Bowl champion- make Simms believe that he’s more likely to retire midseason than Rodgers, who hasn’t had a great start to the campaign either.

Former Bucs QB speculates on struggling veteran quarterbacks

Simms was speaking on the matter with Mike Florio on NBC’s PFT Live as the two discussed the hypothetical situation of either quarterback retiring mid-season in the face of the two veterans’ difficulties at the start of the 2022-23 season.

The former Bucs QB said he would normally have put his money on Rodgers to be the one to leave, but he said that due to what Brady is going through, it might turn out to be the Tampa Bay signal caller.

Tom Brady: No retirement

Brady however dismissed Simms’ statements when asked about it during his regular press conference on Thursday, saying he isn’t quitting anytime soon.

I love the sport. I love the teammates,” said Brady. “I want to go do a great job for this team like I always have. So, no retirement in my future.”

Brady’s personal matters

Brady missed 11 days of Tampa Bay training camp last summer for ‘personal reasons,’ and as news of the marital breakup came soon after, his absence was believed to be related to the issue. His reported problems with his wife came after he withdrew his decision to retire from the sport, leading to speculation that it was the reason behind the couple’s problems.

“I don’t think there’s any going back now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be,” an anonymous source told Page Six.
