A journalist, soccer fanatic and Shrewsbury Town fan, Will’s love for the game has withstood countless playoff final losses. After graduating from the University of Liverpool he wrote for a number of British publications before joining AS USA in 2020. His work focuses on the Premier League, LaLiga, MLS, Liga MX and the global game.
Update:

For the fifth time in the last six years, Travis Kelce is gearing up for the Super Bowl. The tight end has spent the entirety of his 12-year NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs and is now a seasoned veteran in the locker room.

The 35-year-old is well-loved by his teammates and one of the most vocal characters on the team. The ten-time Pro Bowler holds countless NFL records, including the most postseason receptions (174) and the most postseason games with 100+ receiving yards (9). Now, he is in a position to pass on his experience to the younger players.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday Kelce revealed that he has taken a more active role within the squad the season, helping to assimilate new players into the Chiefs' team culture.

“I feel like this year I kind of stepped into a role of being more of a voice for the guys,” he said.

“We had a lot of new faces, whether it was guys that we picked up in the offseason or guys we picked up throughout the season... Just being able to be there for the young guys and help them understand the offense better and hopefully understand how to weather the storm.”

Is Travis Kelce going to retire after Super Bowl LIX?

In October this year, the early weeks of the next NFL season, Kelce will turn 36. He has been a near-constant presence for the Chiefs across this glittering run of championships but they will, one day, have to move on.

However Kelce put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension ahead of the 2024 season, meaning that he is still under contract for another season in Kansas City. Speaking this week, he insisted that his love for the game and passion to continue have not been dulled by years in the professional game.

I’ve got a full heart of football left in me,‘’ Kelce insisted. “I really love this game and I think throughout the year it can get pretty tough. But it’s moments like these, the playoffs, these memories that I’ll have with the teammates and coaches that I go to war with ... wanting to keep that legacy or keep finding new ways to create those memories I think will, I don’t know, just keep fueling me and my love for football.”

He continued: “Nowadays I just love going to work with the guys that I’m in the building with. I love sharing these memories. I love figuring out these game plans, figuring out how we’re going to attack a defense. There’s just a certain love that I’ve found in it, and I think it’s because of the people that I go to work with."
