What did Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens say following loss to Baltimore Ravens?
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ postseason ended unceremoniously and the team’s pass-catcher made it clear that he was less than pleased about that fact.

It would be fair to say that all is not well in Pittsburgh. Indeed, when asked about the team’s prospects going forward, the star wide gave a response that was not optimistic, to say the least.
George Pickens is not happy with the Steelers
Wild Card Weekend did not go according to plan for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but when one considers the fact that the team had lost its previous four games it wasn’t exactly surprising. To be clear, the 28-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens this past weekend marked the Steelers’ sixth straight playoff loss which is tied for the longest active postseason losing streak. Indeed, the Steelers have now registered eight straight non-losing seasons without a playoff win, which in itself is the longest streak by any team in the Super Bowl era.
Having not won a game since December 8th, the natural question for fans and pundits alike is ‘why?’ The short answer is Russell Wilson’s offense. Do consider that Wilson has now averaged just 174.5 passing yards in the final four games of the regular season, to the tune of five total touchdowns and four turnovers. To be fair, Wilson improved on that during Saturday night’s game, throwing for 270 yards and two touchdowns, but both touchdowns were scored in the third quarter when the Steelers were already down by 21 points.
It is with the above as context that Steelers wideout George Pickens unsurprisingly gave a rather unenthusiastic response during his postgame media appearance. On the night, the 23-year-old was actually the game’s leading receiver, catching five passes for 87 yards and a 36-yard touchdown. Asked if he has seen signs of growth from the offense during his time with the Steelers, Pickens that he has. “Yeah, I’ve seen signs of growth for sure,” Pickens said. “From past - first year I’ve been here, just way more growth, for sure.” Yet, he was not so flattering when asked if that growth has made him optimistic about the future. “Uh, nah,” he flatly said.
At this point, it remains unclear as to how the Steelers will progress from here. While it’s clear that the addition of Wilson helped initially, evidenced by the four consecutive wins that the team notched, it’s also clear that he was not able to maintain that level of performance. Indeed, the Steelers ended the regular season with the 10th-worst offense in the NFL (319.4 yards per game). With that in mind, the team now faces a host of questions. First among those is the future of both quarterbacks with Wilson and Justin Fields entering free agency. There is also offensive coordinator Arthur Smith who may be in for a head coaching job and Pickens himself who has just one more year on his rookie contract. In light of his response regarding the future, could he be on the move? Watch this space.
