What did Tom Brady say about Bill Belichick’s Hall of Fame snub?
Brady and Belichick won six Super Bowls together as part of the Patriots’ NFL dynasty.

The fallout from Bill Belichick’s controversial omission from the Pro Football Hall of Fame continues with comments from Tom Brady, the person most closely tied to his historic success in the NFL.
The Brady-Belichick dynasty with the New England Patriots is ranked among the greatest in all of U.S. sport. Spanning 2000 to 2019, the Patriots won an astonishing six Super Bowls with Belichick as coach and Brady at quarterback. No franchise has won more in its entire history.
Yet despite that success, Belichick fell short of the 40 votes needed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility. Speaking to Seattle Sports 710-AM on Wednesday, Brady was stunned by the decision.
“I don't understand it .... if he's not a first-ballot Hall of Famer there's really no coach that should ever be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.”@TomBrady on Bill Belichick’s HOF snub w/ @BrockHuard & @TheMikeSalk on Seattle Sports. ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/h2ZSpHhXmq

“I don’t understand it,” said Brady. “I mean, I was with him every day. If he’s not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, there’s really no coach that should ever be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, which is completely ridiculous because people deserve it."
“He’s incredible. There’s no coach I’d rather play for. If I’m picking one coach to go out there to win a Super Bowl - give me one season - I’m taking Bill Belichick. So that’s enough said.”
Why isn’t Bill Belichick in the Hall of Fame?
Some explanations have been forwarded for Belichick’s surprise omission. Some have suggested that his alleged involvement in the sign-stealing ‘Spygate’ scandal in 2007 or ‘Deflategate’ in 2015 may have cost him some votes.
Nevertheless, despite being overlooked in 2026 he will almost certainly be successful next time around in 2027. For his part, Tom Brady isn’t losing too much sleep over his former coach’s Hall of Fame credentials.
“When it comes down to votes and popularity and all that, then welcome to the world of voting,” Brady said. “You might as well try out for the Oscars and get a big panel to tell you if you’re good or not.”
He continued: “It’s the way that it works unfortunately. He’s going to get into the Hall of Fame. In the end, I’m not worried about that.”
