Who is Anjel Piñero, the artist who is performing “America The Beautiful” in ASL in the Super Bowl 2024?
Piñero is providing the ASL interpretation of Post Malone’s “America The Beautiful” rendition in the Super Bowl.
Anjel Piñero has the daunting yet positively exciting task of providing ASL coverage of Post Malone’s version of “America The Beautiful” ahead of Super Bowl 2024.
The 23-year-old Deaf actress, model, and dancer told Remezcla that she has been “practicing the song like there is no tomorrow” ahead of her performance next to the New York rap star.
“I feel like every fan would feel if they have the opportunity to even breathe next to [Post Malone],” Piñero added in her interview with the media outlet. “I am so excited to stand alongside him and maybe create something new after the Super Bowl. With his voice and my hands, we will inspire everyone with our rendition of ‘America the Beautiful.’”
Piñero, of Puerto Rican descent, originally comes from Brooklyn but was raised in the Bronx; she is a graduate of New York School for the Deaf and from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. “If I want to do something big, I generate that by taking actions. Being Deaf and Latina is a big bonus because I’m committed to empowering others to aspire to achieve from my being.”
Piñero has experience in front of a camera, and appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; she is also something of a TikTok star, and has, at the time of writing ahead of her performance, close to 40,000 followers.
Super Bowl 2024:
“It’ll be my first time at a Super Bowl” she admitted, ”and it’ll be an amazing feeling to just be there … as well as to have the opportunity to perform for everyone,” she said. “On top of that, I am always looking for ways to create opportunities… knowing that I will be surrounded by so many well-known people. I want to be able to create something out of nothing with them.”
The one person that Piñero would like to work with would be woman of the moment, Taylor Swift: “I would love to work with her,” she said. “Who knows, she could be inspired by my performance on the field, and things can happen! So, Taylor, are you seeing this? DM me.”
