Will Tom Brady play flag football at LA Olympics 2028? Here’s what he said
The legendary quarterback shared his thoughts on potentially participating in Los Angeles 2028: “I’ll let Mahomes and Allen go win a medal.”

Excitement surrounding the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games continues to grow as the event draws closer. The return of baseball is one of the biggest attractions, but the inclusion of flag football for the first time in Olympic history has completely changed the conversation around the world’s largest multi-sport event. And with that, a major debate has already begun.
With flag football officially added to the Olympic program, attention quickly turned to the NFL. Several stars from the league have already expressed interest in representing Team USA, making the idea of building a “Dream Team” more than a year in advance far from unrealistic. In that context, Tom Brady’s name began circulating as a potential surprise return to the field, though his latest comments may cool that speculation.
Tom Brady: Not ruling it out, but unlikely
In an interview with Good Morning America, the legendary quarterback said this:
“I’d never say never, but it’s unlikely, so I don’t know. I think it’s great for the younger guys to go out and do it. If I were ever to get involved, maybe as an advisor or a coach, that might be more my speed.“
“I’ll let the young guys like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen go try to win a gold medal for the United States,” he went on.

Brady also emphasized that he is currently focused on his off-field commitments.
“I love my Fox job. I love broadcasting, big commitment to that. I love the NFL, I love the Raiders, and I love working on that and different projects I have. I got a lot going on.”
The seven-time Super Bowl champion hasn’t completely shut the door on the possibility, but for now, his focus remains on his current ventures. If anything, a mentorship or advisory role appears far more realistic than a return to competition.
Regardless of Brady’s final decision, the United States will have no shortage of elite talent at the quarterback position heading into the Olympic flag football tournament.
