Update:

Danielle Collins continues to make headlines after her outspoken comments regarding the financial side of the sport.

The American star’s staff were spotted at Indian Wells wearing what was later confirmed to be a new line of merchandise released by Collins.

During the match against compatriot Hailey Baptiste, members of Collins' entourage could be seen in bright orange t-shirts with the slogan ‘Play tennis. Cash checks. Repeat.’ on them.

‘Let’s f—ing go! Now’s the time'

This stunt comes after Collins' much-publicised comments on the modern world of sport, where she stated that her fans’ support had funded her upcoming “five-star vacation” thanks to the “big fat paycheck” she was to receive.

Can I buy Danielle Collins' merch?

The world number 14 has since been quoted by tennis.com as saying, “I obviously made some bold statements and got a lot of conversation going around women’s tennis and just women being able to talk about money… For years, I’ve had so many fans reach out to me, saying, ‘Danielle, when are you going to do a merchandise drop? I finally got to thinking about it like, ‘Yeah, let’s f—ing go! We’re doing this, and now’s the time.’”

In an Instagram post, Collins confirmed that part of proceeds will go to a women’s equity fund; the merchandise can be bought via a link on her social media page.

Female athletes deal with a whole set of unique challenges that are different from what male athletes deal with,” she added. “That’s not political; that’s just a fact. I don’t think we’re in a society where it’s embraced for us to stick up for ourselves, or wear our hearts on our sleeves, or play with emotions. I still think that it’s frowned upon if we display feelings of being upset, or having a moment of passion on court. I think a lot of those expectations that are placed on us are super unhealthy and unfair.”

As well as the stunt, Collins also revealed that she would be gifting Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic some of her products: “We were able to play around with the design choices and messaging to come up with something that was really true to me and my personality. I haven’t seen Novak this tournament (Indian Wells) yet but I will definitely be gifting him some merch.”

On the controversy, Djokovic recently said that he "loved her response", adding that “I loved everything she said on the court and off the court. Big fan of Danielle Collins after that. I was before, but now, big fan. I love it. I don’t think I would be that polite, but then I know exactly the feeling. So, I think she was funny, smart.”
