David Benavidez doesn’t wait for Canelo and chooses Demetrius Andrade

The WBC interim super middleweight champion will fight the undefeated Demetrius Andrade, hoping to get the Canelo bout soon.

Update:
The WBC interim super middleweight champion will fight the undefeated Demetrius Andrade, hoping to get the Canelo bout soon.

While fans and boxing analysts want to see Saúl Álvarez face David Benavidez for super middleweight supremacy, that fight will have to wait, as both fighters will have to deal with their respective opponents first.

While it was announced that Canelo would meet Jermell Charlo in the ring some months ago, The Mexican Monster, who had been showing lots of interest in taking on Canelo, will now challenge the slick and undefeated Demetrius Andrade on November 24th.

However, Benavidez, who impressed in his clear victory over Caleb Plant in March, has been criticized lately for not accepting to fight David Morrell Jr., seen as one of the most talented fighters in the category.

Benavidez and Bivol are the two boxers that everyone wanted to see fight Álvarez, with the Russian having already defeated the Guadalajara native last year at light heavyweight.

Benavidez vs Andrade: a battle of styles

It will be interesting to see how Benavidez and Andrade will square up in a fight where both guys will be using their tactics to come out on top.

There will be a lot at stake, as the winner of the fight will be mandatory for Canelo Álvarez and both fighters will want to keep their undefeated record. However, it’s not a sure thing that whoever comes out on top will end up meeting Eddy Reynoso’s fighter.

The southpaw Andrade is the better boxer, with good footwork and head movements, an elusive boxer who knows how to use his boxing IQ to outpoint his rivals.

Benavidez, meanwhile, will have to adapt to fighting at 168 lbs, as he’s a big fighter for the category, as was proven against Plant, where he looked drained at 168. His power, size, and relentless pressure and combinations will be his main weapons against Boo Boo.
