Update:

Goldberg said goodbye to the WWE last week after his loss to World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The 58-year-old Hall of Famer stood in the middle of the ring after the fight, surrounded by his family, friends and colleagues, to say a heartfelt farewell to the crowd at Atlanta, Georgia, his adopted home.

Rising to fame in WCW during the late 1990s, William Scott Golberg captivated audiences with an unprecedented undefeated streak; a legendary start in the world of WWE wrestling came on March 31, 2003, the night after WrestleMania XIX, when he confronted The Rock before spearing him, live on Raw. This catapulted him to the top of the billing and instantly turned him into a household name.

He quickly rose through the ranks with his high-power style, and won the World Heavyweight Championship at Unforgiven 2003 after defeating Triple H; he would lose the title, regain it, and lose again it all in a drama-filled year against “The Game”.

Feuds with Chris Jericho, Triple H, and Brock Lesnar all came and went — Spears and Jackhammers in between — with Goldberg coming out on top in many of them. His strong performances and relationship with the crowd saw him eventually inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018, before which he lost against The Undertaker due to suffering a concussion.

He ends his stellar career in the WWE as a one-time World Heavyweight Champion and a two-time Universal Champion.
