Madison Keys wins but misses out on age-old Australian Open record
It was an incredible women’s final Down Under and one that handed the first Grand Slam title to the American.

In a thrilling Australian Open final, Madison Keys clinched her first Grand Slam title by defeating defending champion Aryna Sabalenka 6-3, 2-6, 7-5, the runner-up not taking it well. This victory not only marked a personal milestone for Keys but also placed her among the notable veteran winners in tennis history.
A long-awaited triumph for Keys

Despite not breaking that particular record, Keys' win is historic. She is the first player since 2009 to defeat both the world No. 1 and No. 2 at a major tournament, highlighting her exceptional performance throughout the competition.
Keys moves back up the rankings
This victory propels Keys back into the top 10 of the WTA rankings, reaffirming her status as a formidable force in women’s tennis. As she continues her career, fans will be eager to see if this Grand Slam title is the first of a few more...
