Golf’s top stars feature at the PGA tournament in Los Angeles eyeing significant prize money and part of it all is host Tiger Woods.
Impressive golf unfolded at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles on both Thursday and Friday, with Patrick Cantlay emerging as the standout performer, concluding Friday’s play with a commanding 5-shot lead, sitting comfortably at 13-under par. Behind him sit Luke List, Jason Day and Mackenzie Hughes, all tied for second at eight under. However, dampening the excitement somewhat was the unfortunate news of Tiger Woods’ withdrawal from the tournament due to illness, but he will remain a figurehead in LA as tournament host.

Chase Johnson, recipient of the 2024 Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption, finds himself tied for 43rd place, maintaining an even-par score. Johnson’s performance marks the fourth instance of a Sifford Exemption recipient making the cut, following in the footsteps of Joseph Bramlett (2020), Harold Varner III (2014), and Jeremiah Wooding (2013).
