Topuria under attack again: “I can’t wait to kick El Chorizo”
The British fighter has never met Topuria in the octagon, but he’s been trolling him for years, and his latest jibe is a meat-themed insult.
Paddy Pimblett continues to push for the role of Ilia Topuria’s main antagonist in the UFC – despite the fact the two have never actually fought.
Pimblett sends message to Topuria
The British lightweight has made a habit of provoking Topuria, with their feud dating back to 2021 when Pimblett allegedly threw a bottle of soap or disinfectant at the Spaniard of Georgian descent. Ever since, Pimblett has taunted him with nicknames like “hand sanitizer boy” or “soap boy.”
In the latest jab, Pimblett posted a photo of himself landing a kick during a previous bout, hinting at who he’d like to be on the receiving end next. “Can’t wait to land one of these on El Chorizo,” he wrote, introducing a new nickname for Topuria.
The dig comes after Topuria’s win over Michael Chandler at UFC 314. “I’d love to welcome Topuria – I’d love to welcome El Chorizo to lightweight,” Pimblett said. “But I’ve heard he wants to take some time off and only go for a title shot. I think he needs to fight someone at 155 before he gets that chance.”
For now, Pimblett will have to wait – Topuria is scheduled to face Charles Oliveira on June 28, a potential stepping stone to a title fight.
