At the 3M Open, Lee Hodges proved his unwavering belief in the opportunities the TPC Twin Cities presented. Ranked 74th in the FedEx Cup standings, the 28-year-old golfer knew he had to seize this moment, with only two weeks left until the playoffs commenced. Throughout the event, Hodges showed exceptional skill and resilience, leading the pack from start to finish. He scored an impressive 24-under 260, setting a new 3M Open tournament record and securing his first-ever PGA Tour title. This victory propelled him to 33rd in the FedEx Cup standings and placed him on the verge of earning a coveted spot at the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

On Sunday, Hodges maintained his composure, delivering a solid 4-under 67 and widening his lead by seven strokes. He had a remarkable five-stroke advantage heading into the final round. J.T. Poston, who had previously gone wire-to-wire at the John Deere Classic, was tied for second at 17-under with Martin Laird and Kevin Streelman after a disappointing triple bogey on the closing par 5.

Hodges became the first player since Poston to lead wire-to-wire on the PGA Tour. Despite carding his least impressive round of the week with the Sunday 67, he widened his lead even further, capitalizing on Poston’s misfortune on the final hole.

Let’s take a look at the three primary PGA power rankings after the Minnesota tournament.
