Gervonta Davis made a spectacular return to the ring, reaffirming why he is regarded as one of the best boxers around today. After over a year away from the sport, ‘Tank’ came back to deliver a decisive knockout victory over Frank Martin in the eighth round, successfully retaining his WBA lightweight title.

Following his successful title defense, speculation quickly arose about Gervonta Davis’s next opponents. Among the names mentioned was Ryan Garcia, but he seems to have been ruled out almost immediately. A few hours later, however, the likes of Vasyl Lomachenko, Shakur Stevenson, and even Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz started to gain traction, though one contender appears to be leading the race.

According to renowned promoter Bob Arum, talks between Davis and Lomachenko are set to resume this week for a potential unification bout for the WBA and IBF lightweight world titles, potentially taking place in November or December of this year, as reported by ‘BoxingScene.’

“I am optimistic about Davis-Lomachenko. The PBC team are professionals, my team are professionals, and they will sort it out,” Arum stated. The Ukrainian, who is the current IBF Lightweight champion, holds a record of 18-3-0.
