On Saturday 19 March, the 247th edition of the Clásico Nacional will be played between two of the greatest sides in Mexican soccer: Club América and Chivas.

Veljko Paunovic’s Chivas side have only scored 14 goals in 11 matches in the current Clausura 2023 campaign. El Rebaño were poor against La Franja in front of goal in a match in which they generated several chances that could not be translated into goals despite having 19 shots. Of the 19, only two were on target, with nine shots blocked and eight going wide.

América come into this sharper in front of goal, having scored 23 times this season. Las Águilas recently defeated Tigres 2-0 in a match where they had 14 shots, of which five were on target.

The Coapa team head to the Akron Stadium with a clear advantage in some offensive actions over Rebaño Sagrado. As for goals, América have an average of 2.09 per game, while Chivas are averaging 1.27. Las Águilas have a total of 13.09 shots on goal, while the side from Guadalajara have 9.55.

In successful 1v1 situations, América have 9.09 compared to Chivas’ 9.91. In terms of balls won in the opponents’ area, América dominate, with 9.36 compared to the 6.64 of this weekend’s hosts.
